If you are one of the zillions of Americans who receive cable/satellite television, you're probably
familiar with Tech TV's The Screen Savers (TSS). Although I am not one of the zillions of Americans,
I still watch the show occasionally.
TSS has an image-editing contest they call Photoshop This. Rules are pretty simple: Get the image from
their web site. Violate it with the image editing software of your choice. EMail your work back to them. This
sounds like a fun so...
Here are my submissions.
FEBRUARY 5 - 18, 2003
In the original image, Leo in his cubicle with a distressed look. What could make Leo feel this way?
Poor book sales? forced to use XP? Or, perhaps Patrick assimilated him! Next time Leo will think twice
before 'helping' Patrick with his experiments.
This image was created with Paint Shop Pro 5. I found the image of Patrick on the TSS web site and blended
him into the background. The borg facial elements were blended from an image I found somewhere on the web. To
make the image more interesting I added a medical bag and forceps to the background and incriminated
Patrick by putting a nasty medical device in his hand.
Unfortunate for me, my picture was not one of the five selected by Chris DiBona's pony tail...
FEBRUARY 19 - MARCH 5, 2003
The Screen Savers threw me a curve with this one. I mean, this picture is lame! What am I to do with it...
My first idea is still my favorite. I wanted these dudes hitching a ride from Patrick in that sweet classic muscle
car with Martin chasing behind on the bike. With the appropriate embellishments I figured it would look so cool.
However, I could not find the images that I needed to photoshop that. So, I went with the ridiculous elf bowling
infringement. If you watch Tech TV this image will make sense - just trust me on this...
Well, like last time, my entry was not selected - err - by a hacked Speak 'N Math.
MARCH 5 - MARCH 19, 2003
When I first saw the original picture, I had no idea how I should Photoshop it. Luckily, I took a week long trip
to northern California during the two weeks I had to submit my entry. While in San Fransico, I had the opportunity
to visit the intersection of Haight and Ashbury (I even took a picture of 710 Ashbury). Now, it all came together.
You have go to Haight street in San Fransico to fully appreciate this one! My only regret is that I could not
find an image of those fancy bongs that are in the window of that bong shop.
It was not chosen by the confused Yak.
SEPTEMBER - OCTOBER 23, 2003
Its been a while since I accepted the photoshop challenge. The main reason being that I don't have TV service running
to my house. So, I don't watch the show often. But, I was thinking about it last September and started this picture.
However, I got busy in October and forgot to finish it. I sent it in anyhow. I must have lost the final image because
the one to the left isn't it. I added beer bottles in the dirt and this one doesn't have them. Oh well, it don't matter.
My picture was not selected.
